University of the Basque Country

We used the Pre-Texts methodology to work on a text that is part of the syllabus for the subject Development of Communicative Ability II (taught in Basque) in the second year of the Early Childhood Education Degree at the University of the Basque Country.

The text focused on the development of oral expression, a skill that is crucial in today’s society, especially considering that we are working with future educators. Interestingly, the proposed activities for engaging with the text did not rely on oral communication—the very subject of the text—yet everyone was able to convey its importance.

The feedback from all students has been overwhelmingly positive. They highlighted and appreciated the dynamic and interactive implementation of the Pre-Texts methodology, which is also notably uncommon in university education.

The sections on “tangents” and “What did we do?” were particularly enriching, as they provided opportunities for reflection on what had taken place, while also allowing us to get to know each other better. This process fostered a stronger sense of group cohesion and created a more favorable academic atmosphere.
