SUMMER PRE-TEXTS INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Revolutionize Education Through Paid Pre-Texts Summer Program!

DEADLINE EXTENDED

Apply by Feb 15th 2022 ~ 45 host organizations

Pre-Texts is an educational, train-the-trainers program that is run out of Cultural Agents, an NGO founded in 2015 by Professors Doris Sommer (Harvard University) and Jose Falconi (Brandeis University) with the mission to develop recognition of the arts as resources for positive change and apply them in society. Inspired by a range of popular Latin American creative practices, from reading in tobacco factories and performing stories, to hanging poetry on a clothesline and improvising poetic duels, the Pre-Texts pedagogical protocol treats texts as raw material for creating art. Its prompt, “make art from this text and reflect on the process,” works like acupuncture by touching creative and intellectual nerves to stimulate cognitive and emotional growth. Proven to enhance work in education, literacy, public health, violence prevention, and more, Pre-Texts has become a platform for international ministries of culture and education, musicians, schools, and indigenous historic preservation offices to revive a long humanistic tradition that combines arts and research in the service of civic development. See here for a glimpse of the reach and impact of Pre-Texts.

Apply to be a Pre-Texts Summer Program Intern! Interns will be matched with a host organization to develop and facilitate Pre-Texts workshops within the communities that the organization serves.

This paid remote internship will span 8 weeks from May 31 to July 29 and will represent up to 40 hours a week.
Explore over 45 potential international host organizations here. You are also welcome to propose hosts with whom you would like to work with.
If you are interested in becoming a host, please fill out this interest form.

Global Political Thought – Deadline January 21st, 2022

The Association for Global Political Thought is an international, interdisciplinary, and intercollegiate project founded in 2021, supported by humanists and social scientists from global institutions. We are excited to announce that our inaugural conference will take place in person, at Harvard University on Friday–Saturday, April 8–9, 2022.

The keynote address is to be delivered by Pratap Bhanu Mehta (Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi; Laurance S. Rockefeller Distinguished Professor at the Center for Human Values, Princeton University), a founding advisor of the Association for Global Political Thought.

We welcome submissions that seek to enrich the study of political, social, and international thought; expand the scopes of political traditions and their languages; interrogate the discipline’s constitutive exclusions and limits of existing methods of inquiry; or address the theoretical and historical foundations of contemporary global political predicaments.

More information about the Association, including examples of work that has been presented in our seminar series, may be found on our website.

Submissions are due by Friday January 21st, 2022, at midnight EST and should be sent to globalpoliticalthought@g.harvard.edu. Applicants will receive a response in February 2022.
