On June 18 and 19, 2025, a Pre-Texts workshop was held at Casa Colores in Nuquí, Chocó, with the participation of 15 community members, including teachers, community leaders, artisans, cooks, and women entrepreneurs.
Throughout the two-day workshop, participants engaged with texts by Gilles Deleuze, Manuel Zapata Olivella, and Hope Jahren—texts that at first seemed impossible to understand. But as they immersed themselves in the reading and explored complex terms—such as Ecovio, deterritorialization, reterritorialization, and cotyledon—those words gradually began to sound clearer and more familiar with every repetition.
Following the Pre-Texts protocol, participants listened to the reading while each crafted questions for the text—allowing the text itself to eventually respond. This approach enabled them to engage with complexity in a more creative and generous way. Word by word, meanings emerged through dialogue, interpretation, and artistic response.
The result was a series of creative pieces: theatrical interpretations, musical compositions, and performative dances, all born from their discoveries in the readings shared by the facilitators.
This workshop marks the beginning of a replication phase led by three participating teachers who work in different areas along Nuquí’s coast. These new facilitators-in-training will continue to implement the methodology and share updates on their local adaptations of Pre-Texts.
