Colton Valentine (Harvard College ’16) was named the SHARP Fellow for Cultural Agents in 2013. SHARP (Summer Humanities and Arts Research Program) is a 10-week summer immersion experience designed by Harvard faculty and library administration. Working closely with Prof. Doris Sommer, Colton developed both short and long-term approaches to tracking and evaluating three inter-related dimensions of the Pre-Texts methodology.
Colton also facilitated a Pre-Texts workshop during the SHARP Philosophy Ethics Bowl on July 23, 2013. Participants played with the text On a Supposed Right to Lie Because of Philanthropic Concerns by Immanuel Kant.
Along with existing research programs that make up the collective Harvard Summer Undergraduate Research Village (PRISE, BLISS, and PRIMO), SHARP fellows contribute to the rich, interdisciplinary intellectual, social, and residential environment with activities that include a distinguished faculty speaker series, pre-professional seminars, and opportunities to explore Harvard and the New England region more broadly.
