The Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics and the National University of Colombia invited artists, performers, academics and activists to propose performances, papers, performance-based scholarship, videos, installations, visual art exhibits, activist projects, hacktivist or virtual actions, work group projects and other forms that bring together performance and politics in the Americas and participate in the 7th Encuentro “Staging Citizenship: Cultural Rights in the Americas.”

 

Part academic conference, part performance festival, Encuentros are biennial events that bring together hundreds of scholars, artists, activists, and students at different sites in the Americas. Encuentros foster experimentation, dialogue, and collaboration through a program of lectures, performances, roundtables, work groups, workshops, street art actions, exhibitions, and cabaret.

 

Offered in conjunction with the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics at NYU, the four-day workshop explored the principles of the Paper Picker Press (PPP) with a group of over 60 participants at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá.
