The Paper Picker Press (PPP) program aims to promote reading, writing and critical thinking through creative engagement with literature as recyclable material across multiple art disciplines. The PPP program at the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center (BCNC) was funded by the Barr Foundation and implemented through the Oak Street Youth Center teen summer program. It ran from July 6th to August 28th, 2009.

The program engaged Chinese youth (American-born and immigrant), and teens of other primarily Asian backgrounds. The ages ranged from 11 to 19 years old. At the completion of the program, the final presentation was an art gallery of student work. The art mediums were visual art, poetry, photography, architecture and music. The text used was from The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston.
