Research teachers from the Instituto Desarrollo (ID) and technicians from the Ministry of Education and Science (MEC) held the first “Pre-Textos” workshop for pedagogical coordinators and school principals to evaluate the impact on the reading and writing skills of sixth grade students in schools in the urban areas of the Central Department and Asunción.

The workshops were held from April 22 to 26, 2024 in two shifts. It should be noted that this activity was carried out within the framework of the project “Active pedagogy to promote learning. The impact of the Harvard method: Pre-text”. This project is co-financed by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), through the #PROCIENCIA program.

Forty-five people participated in the training, including coordinators and directors from Asunción and Central. They developed various materials focused on the promotion of reading through art, theater, science and the development of learning techniques centered on a process of active participation, where the teacher becomes a facilitator and the student is the one who presents the topics in an entertaining way using artistic techniques.

Finally, once this methodology has been implemented in all schools, we intend to evaluate the impact on students’ learning and reading and writing skills.
