When: June, 2023 Where: Shanghai, China Institution: Wenlai Middle School Facilitators: Clement Chung
We asked students to engage with a number of texts on equality, equity and justice, and show their understanding through drawing or language arts.
Here are our Year 6’s interpretations.
Pre-Texts helps our learners to actively participate in the interpretation of the text, rather than simply passively receiving information. The protocol help them develop a deeper understanding of the theme.
We did a gallery walk to showcase and analyze the topic with different perspectives and interpretations. It is also a celebration of their work.
The video shows a learner who does not like to read but he finds creative ways to share his interpretation.

In the left part of the picture, the person is expecting a good result for an event. Yet, the result is the opposite. My drawing represents the process of becoming upset when we have high expectations but don’t turn out to expectation. That is “disappointment”.
