The Interdisciplinary Seminar is a subject of the Bachelor’s Degree in Music at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional de Colombia. It is an academic space in which reflection and appropriation of pedagogical strategies for the interdisciplinary work of graduates in different teaching-learning contexts is encouraged.
The methodological approach I designed for this course gathers texts on art education processes that are worked with students through the Pre-Textos protocol. Departing from the traditional model of the German seminar, this methodology has allowed me a more active participation of young people (I have even managed to reduce the use of cell phones in class), awaken interest in various topics, and strengthen bonds of companionship, mutual respect and empathy among the group.
The topics we deal with in the course are of full interest to the students, it motivates questions about their profession and their future, and we have come to the conclusion that they are not topics inherent exclusively to those who are enrolled in the course. Therefore, we decided to exhibit our string every week in different places of the Faculty of Fine Arts with the desire that other members of this academic-artistic community are linked to the questions and reflections that we advance and thus set in motion the critical thinking and motivate the reading of the authors studied.
