Where: Babson College, 231 Forest Street, Babson Park, MA

Subject: Portuguese Speaking Change Agents
Pre-Texts is a dynamic and engaging pedagogy for professional development that empowers change agents to build literacy, innovation, and citizenship in their communities. Prof. Doris Sommer facilitated a 15-hour Pre-Texts training with leaders representing Portuguese speaking countries, as well as people involved and interested in social and community projects in the fields of education, culture, health, and social entrepreneurship in Massachusetts, on February 2nd and 3rd, 2019 at Babson College.
This was the first step in a project of international dimensions, with the institutional support from the Consul General of Cape Verde, Mr. Hermínio Muniz, Senator Jamie Eldridge, and Deputy Antônio Cabral. Cultural Agents are also in contact with authorities from other Portuguese-speaking countries.
Using Pre-Texts as the tool for design and implementation, each workshop participant had the opportunity to develop a community project, which they then implemented over the course of three months, with mentors from Cultural Agents.
